Fat-Fighting DVD's Win Telly Award
Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) April 18, 2008 -- Cynthia Kay and Company media production (http://www.ckandco.net) along with FITsmart Production, LLC, won a Telly Award for their distinguished production, GYMTRIX?, a series of innovative DVD programs that teach physical literacy skills needed for lifelong physical activity. The series is designed for babies (6-18 months), toddlers (18 months-3 years), preschoolers (3-6 years), and kids (7-11 years). CK & CO was also recognized in 2007 for their Telly Award winning production, "Safety the Movie" for Siemens Energy & Automation. The movie played to packed theatres in 45 cities across the United States, educating thousands of customers about the rapidly changing landscape of machine safety.
The Telly Award annually showcases the best work of local and regional advertising agencies, cable and TV stations, as well as the finest production companies and corporate video departments in the world. It is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition and receives over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries. Judges evaluate entries to recognize distinction in creative work- entries do not compete against each other- rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.
"This is a huge honor for CK &CO to be recognized for these forward thinking programs. We produced GYMTRIX? (http://www.gymtrix.net) to put a curriculum tool into the hands of parents and educators. Children are not small adults! They don't exercise, they play. GYMTRIX? is designed specifically to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of children," Cynthia states. "Recently the National Association for Sport and Physical Education released new physical activity guidelines. These guidelines include the amount of physical activity that children need during the school day. For the first time there are guidelines for babies and toddlers. GYMTRIX? meets and exceeds these guidelines."
GYMTRIX? is a product of FITsmart Productions, LLC, a joint venture of Doreen Bolhuis and Cynthia Kay. Doreen Bolhuis is a nationally recognized physical education professional, as well as president and founder of Gymco Sports. These programs are the result of over 30 years of her experience and incorporate the scientific strategies that she's studied, tested and implemented with over 80,000 children in the West Michigan area in Bolhuis' sport and recreational facility.
"Childhood obesity is a rising epidemic. Every day I hear the stories of parents and children who struggle with being overweight or obese. It is heartbreaking to listen to them. Parents want their children to be active. They long to see them happy, playing with other children and self confident. But they simply don't know how to help their children get active and get in the game. GYMTRIX? programs give kids a healthy start to a lifetime of physical activity and fitness! This life-long habit of physical activity will give kids a hedge against obesity. They teach the physical literacy skills needed to understand movement. Children feel more confident and join in the game on their own, instead of staying on the sidelines," Bolhuis explains.
